BC Home Owner's Grant Increased!!!

The Finance Minister for the BC Provincial Government, Carole Taylor, announced on January 12th, 2007, a $170,000 increase in the province's homeowner grant threshold.  The new homeowner grant is increased from last year's $780,000 to $950,000 this year.    In 2007, the property tax grant is now $570 up from $470.  For home owners to qualify for the full home owner grant on their property in BC the assessed value for their property must be under $950,000 to qualify for the full grant of $570 (to be deducted off their 2007 property tax bill).

4th Consecutive Increase for Home Owners Grant!!!

James Weldon, of The North Shore News, reported recently the threshold has increased 4 times since 2003, rising over 70% from $369,000 to the new level of $950,000."  Also he reported there is an additional $275 home owner grant permitted for some war veterans, owners over 65 and those with permanent disabilities."
